BSCAA National Newsletter - December 2020
President's report  “The end of the year brings no greater joy than the opportunity to express to you season’s greetings and good wishes. May your holidays and New Year be filled with joy.” It would be safe to say there will be a lot of people looking forward to the end of 2020.  The good news is that a new year will be here pretty soon, offering a fresh start.  Even though we have no guarantee what 2021 will bring, it would be safe to say we are all hoping for a more normal year of prosperity and good health.   During 2020 BSCAA National worked tirelessly to ensure our members were provided with industry related news, COVID-19 updates and resources needed to operate safely and compliantly.  The BSCAA has been sending all our members regular eNews packed with valuable information and links to facts and resources. BSCAA has held several webinars during the year which were well received and will undoubtedly be continuing... read more ❯
BSCAA National Newsletter - November 2020
President's report Welcome to the BSCAA November 2020 newsletter With National Safety month October at an end, BSCAA congratulates members for their efforts in promoting continual improvement in safety and health at your workplace. Workplaces have had to quickly adapt their practices and procedures to reduce the WHS risks arising from COVID-19 and to manage the psychological effects of the pandemic on workers.  BSCAA held an Insurance & Mental Health and Wellbeing Webinar on 27 October, in partnership with AustralianSuper.  Our presenters were from TAL Life Insurance and Superfriend.   If you were unable to attend, you will find further details on the Webinar in the Newsletter.  Thank you to everyone who was able to participate, and we hope that you enjoyed the session. 11 November is Remembrance Day.  Each year on this day, Australians observe one minute's silence at 11 am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. By observing one minute's silence, we pay tribute to the... read more ❯

BSCAA National Newsletter - September 2020
President's Report Welcome to the BSCAA September 2020 newsletter. There has been a lot of social media advertising of COVID-19 cleaning with some extraordinary claims.  BSCAA has been approached concerning the viability of these claims.  I would encourage BSCAA members to read the below regarding advertising guidelines and other useful links to assist with compliance when advertising COVID-19 cleaning. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is part of the Australian Government Department of Health and is responsible for regulating therapeutic goods. Many of these products, such as kitchen cleaners, floor cleaners, general surface cleaners, etc., are both cleaners and disinfectants and are regulated by the TGA. Products such as antibacterial handwashes, are both cleaners and antiseptics and are also regulated by the TGA. The TGA is responsible for regulating the supply, import, export, manufacturing and advertising of therapeutic goods. The Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) contains therapeutic goods that can be lawfully supplied in Australia.  Advertising guidelines, click here;  https://www.tga.gov.au/advertising-advertising-code-and-guidance The regulatory... read more ❯
BSCAA National Newsletter - August 2020
President's Report Welcome to the BSCAA August 2020 newsletter. I hope everyone has progressed through the end of the financial year smoothly, and the transition of wage increases and contract increases has been completed successfully.  Increasing contract prices that are out of our control can be difficult to pass onto our clients.  BSCAA National would like to remind our members that a Superannuation Guarantee rate increase, which has been legislated, is set to apply from 1 July 2021 by 0.5%, and then each year after that until it reaches 12% by 1 July 2025.  It may be an idea to mention this to your clients in preparation for their 2021-2022 budgets.  It's also important to consider when pricing jobs and preparing tenders.  I am sure this will be a hot topic with the federal government during the retirement income system review.  BSCAA National, in partnership with AustralianSuper, will keep you updated,   You... read more ❯

BSCAA National Newsletter - June 2020
President's report In the past week, we have seen some welcomed COVID-19 restrictions lifted.  As they have started to ease around Australia, many are preparing to return to the workplace. Employers are encouraged to maintain a safe workspace, should offices start to open up in compliance with state laws.Building owners are getting ready to provide COVID-19 safe offices, workplaces, retail precincts and public spaces. There will be many challenges to navigate and the new cleaning and hygiene protocols will be one of them. Here are 5 tips to consider; 1. Don’t be complacent, understand how the environment/market has changed 2. Put plans in place and move quickly, opportunity is knocking for your business to stand out 3. Communicate regularly with your clients 4. Act on the right information – there’s too much around and not all of it is accurate 5. Understand employment laws With so much information out there about techniques to kill COVID-19, we are now... read more ❯

I was fortunate enough to be part of the NSW awards night and it was a spectacular event.  With 200 attendees and over 75 nominations, live band and entertaining MC, the night was a buzzing. A great event organised by Debbie Delimitros, BSCAA NSW President and National Vice President.
