The Sandwich generation – Women who find themselves sandwiched in
Guest Speaker Presentation | Lisa Birmingham, All Women’s Health and Sarah Yip, The Leaders Lounge
The sandwich generation refers to middle-aged adults burdened with the obligations of career, parenthood and carer responsibilities, “sandwiched” between growing children and aging parents or grandparents. Most often, women aged 35 plus must balance multiple commitments and responsibilities.
Going beyond their sense of identity, these multigenerational caregivers often find themselves overwhelmed and exhausted as they put the needs of others before themselves. With the added pressures of managing one’s own career and personal issues, the individuals of the sandwich generation often feel overextended and are under significant financial and emotional stress.
Lisa Birmingham from All women’s Health will discuss the sandwich generation alongside Sarah Yip from The Leaders Lounge, who will discuss some practical tips to manage stress by identifying triggers, self-care, and asking for support.
